RE: Brocade Rehash

I probably posted this before, but I was digging through my files and came upon this and thought since fiber channel switching was being recently discussed, it would be worth a view once again.

Here's a post I made last December 3 at the Fool:

======

A few months ago, Paul Johnson of The Gorilla Game fame spoke that Brocade was involved in a gorilla game and at that time was emerging as the leader. Brocade owns about 80% of the market share in FC switches over Gadzoox and Ancor. Revenues grew 457% year over year. The revenues were only $30 million this past quarter. However, management sees explosive growth for the year 2000.

Here's what Geoff Moore, author of Inside the Tornado, The Gorilla Game and Crossing the Chasm had to say on today's Gorilla Game digest list serve thread:

Gang,

I saw a recent posting about SANs and it reminded me that I sat in on a superb presentation by Greg Reyes, the CEO of Brocade (full disclosure--this is a Mohr Davidow investment). He asserts that they have gorilla opportunity in the classic sense. I think the list should try to vet that claim.

I'm still digging around trying to find Paul Johnson's comments, but I think they are stored on my wife's PowerBook which she took with her this week on a vacation.
