That reminds me--I got tired of buying MASK at lower and lower prices as PLAB went up (increasing the arbitrage) and just closed the whole thing by shorting enough PLAB to offset the MASK. I locked in about a 19% arbitrage. . .Now I just have to wait for settlement, which is supposed to be mid-March according to the conference call (these things always seem to get protracted, though). So, for my sake, everyone please vote for the merger. :)

This was a semi-defensive move, as I feel like the NASDAQ is hankering for a little correction, so thought it'd be nice to have some cash on hand. Famous last words. . .

Steve

Dear Michael: I like this part the best. JDN

Corning and Photronics estimate that the photoblank market will grow from $400 million today to $700 million by 2003. Corning entered the photomask business last November with the introduction of HPFS glass substrates, which are processed into photoblanks. The two companies estimate that the photomask market will grow from about $2 billion today to approximately $4 billion by 2003.
