Niceguy767,

Please don't take my covered call writing to reflect a lack of bullishness on AMD it is more a way of tempering my position, In analyzing my past trading history I realize that I would have been able to profit tremendously if I would have had more dry powder during periods of AMD downturns. (I can't tell you what it was like to watch AMD hit 15 or less and not be able to buy any more because I had gone in at 50% margin in the 17's and 18's but I'm sure that you can imagine how much it sucked!) Covered calls seem to me to be a great way to balance my position. Especially at current premiums. Buying calls is an expense, writing them is an immediate income generator. Yes I might miss some upside but I am not going to let myself get exercised out of all of my AMD so I will still profit if the stock takes off and with the covered calls I will also profit if just stays where it is. Do you feel that this strategy is flawed and if so then how, also, would you be willing to divulge the size and nature of your AMD investment and how long you have been watching the stock.

Thanks,

Epinephrine
