ELON is about more than facilities management. Check out the iLon 1000 Internet server certified today by CISCO:

ianmag.com

Bowling pins? How about: "Petroleum companies will be able to remotely measure gas station tank levels to optimize delivery schedules; property companies will remotely manage and maintain their buildings; manufacturers will be able to integrate productions planning systems and actual production equipment itself; and home appliance manufacturers will monitor, detect, and solve problems before the homeowner even knows something's amiss."

What makes this all possible, and what is attracting the likes of cisco, sunw, msft, Honeywell, and others to partner-up with ELON? The answer: A proprietary open architecture called Lon Works, which has been getting certified as the industry standard from Finland to Japan over the past couple months. Quoting from tfm, p. 52: "Gaining control over the formative architectural decisions is the key battle in any gorilla game." Given ELON's growing list of heavy-hitting partners, a more than 10-fold market share lead over its nearest competitor, and a breakthrough product about to go to market with csco's blessing, it would seem that the company is rapidly consolidating control over "formative architectural decisions" in this gg....

Is that a funnel cloud on the horizon?

Chaz, I am not suggesting an investment in fac mgt companies, though PRGN and a few other software companies that feed this industry are doing very well.

I am suggesting that the value proposition for companies like ELON is strengthened by the increased recognition that fac mgt is very important to the bottom line of major companies.
