Well, NTAP already had the ball with NetCache before CFLO even arrived at the game. CFLO will have a hard time getting that ball back from NTAP, INKT, and NOVL.

AKAM is in a different game. AKAM is caching static content in their own points of presence as prescribed by their customers. In fact, NTAP and AKAM worked closely together to create the protocol that lets a web cache engine (NetCache) owned by an AKAM customer determine tha an object is present in the AKAM network and cause that object to be fetched from the AKAM cache at the closest POP to the requesting client.

So NTAP and AKAM are cooperating to become part of one anothers value chain rather than competitors.
