Your comments re: ansi and LonWorks (ELON)remind me of this quote from trfm, p. 11: "In order to scale up rapidly (hypergrowth markets) will often spontaneously standardize on the products from a single vendor. This simplifies the issues of creating new standards, building compatible systems, and getting a whole set of product and service providers up to speed quickly on the new solution set. In short, it makes it much easier for the new value chain to form." And what a value chain: csco, sunw, msft, honeywell, ge, and more. For the likes of these to be signing on to the LonWorks standard, there has to be more to this new market than mere "facilities management."
