Bob C.,

Perhaps the following link will help. These companies and others are involved with digital watermarking. Included in the list is Cognicity, Blue Spike, Fraunhofer, ARIS, and others involved with SDMI.

cosimo.ing.unifi.it

Hope this helps.

Bob

Digital watermarking - start here:

digimarc.com

musicode.com

ee.princeton.edu

hotwired.lycos.com

imt.se

A definition, from:

surroundassociates.com

"Watermarking - An embedded signal that applies a digital signature in the form of supposedly inaudible noise on a DVD-A. This digital watermark actually puts a faint image (either text or graphics) on the signal side of the disc which makes it extremely hard for pirates to duplicate. The watermark also identifies the artist, record company, catalog number and copyright holder."

netsecurity.miningco.com

eetimes.com

A quote:

"Thus far, proposals have been made to the CPTWG by Hitachi, IBM, NEC, Philips, Pioneer and Sony. IBM and NEC claimed that their technologies were ranked as the top two in the CPTWG's evaluation. "

Sounds like some formidable competition...

Wasn't too tough - a simple Alta-Vista search. Surprised that nobody bothered to try it...
