What has McCain done that is so heroic? His POW experience shows he has grit. That is admirable. I've known winos with grit, but that doesn't mean they should be president.

This mania of Hero Worship we're going through now is most unsettling. McCain is still grappling to articulate a message, but in the meantime his Luke Skywalker ramblings are enough to get people to fall all over themselves in adoration. Hitler's rise to power started because he had been an honored soldier in WW I. I am not making personal comparisons, just saying we should have additional criteria in evaluating our leaders.

For an interesting look at McCain's "illustrous" record, check this out. usvetdsp.com

I agree that this will be an interesting election.

Interesting summary of the difference between these two men, nihil! It's funny how people like to take shameless cheap shots at McCain, snickering that those five and a half years in the Hanoi Hilton unhinged him somehow, but an opposing candidate's impregnatin', cocaine-snortin', hard-drinkin' past is off limits somehow? What goes around comes around.
