Priceline.com to Sell Name-Your-Own Price Gasoline

Feb 25 8:19am ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Priceline.com Inc. (PCLN.O) will start offering gasoline on its name-your-own-price Web site in May, company founder and co-chairman Jay Walker said Friday.

The company, which made the announcement as pump prices reached unusually high levels, already offers discounted air tickets and groceries and will offer gasoline ``starting right before Memorial Day,' Walker said on CBS This Morning.

``You'll be able to come to the priceline.com Web site and name your own price for gasoline and get it at your local gas station,' he said.

Customers will be able to click in their price offers and their choices of three local gas stations. Walker said they would save 10 to 20 cents a gallon off the pump price if their bids were accepted.
