Epinephrine:

I deal with TD Waterhouse and provided margin the few times I sold puts!

Any strategy that will make a good return for you has to be considered just fine...The only reason I'm reluctant to sell calls is that I can't see why AMD hasn't closed above $48.50 already given Q4 results...I suspect that when AMD moves it's going to move a large amount upwards and I rate the possiblility of this move occurring prior to April 21 as highly probable!

EP, re:naked puts, I use edreyfus.com & they require $20K equity in an account before they will consider naked puts or calls, and that equity has to be in stock or cash, not options. It took a week to get approval. They do require 50% equity in the naked position, which is double the minimum requirement and you can't enter non-covered orders online, which basically means the minimum commission jumps from $15 to $25.

EDIT: one other thing, one broker a talked to said you needed $20K equity remaining AFTER the requirements of the short option position you are opening are taken out.
