Interphase Joins HP's Open SAN Initiative; Expands Interphase Commitment to
Interoperability of Fibre Channel-based SAN Products

Business Editors & High-Tech Writers

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 2000--Interphase Corporation
(Nasdaq:INPH), a leading international supplier of Fibre Channel
networking technologies, today announced that it belongs to
Hewlett-Packard Company's Open Storage Area Network (SAN) Initiative.
Participation in this program reinforces Interphase's
long-standing commitment to support multi-vendor interoperability for
its Fibre Channel products in heterogeneous SAN environments.
The HP Open SAN Initiative is a comprehensive plan to ensure
seamless integration of multivendor, multiplatform SAN products for HP
customers. The interoperability program is intended to provide an
opportunity for third-party hardware and software vendors to test
their products for compatibility with HP storage products and
software. HP expects the program to be fully implemented by the second
calendar quarter of 2000.
"The HP Open SAN Initiative is intended to provide a
comprehensive range of compatible data storage solutions for our
customers," said Marilyn Edling, vice president and general manager of
HP's Enterprise Storage Business Unit. "As a recognized premier
partner for HP, Interphase products help complete HP's intelligent
SAN-based architecture."
Interphase has been a leader in driving multi-vendor
interoperability for Fibre Channel products. The company hosts
industry-wide interoperability testing and has one of the largest
facilities in the industry dedicated to this effort. In addition,
Interphase works in conjunction with industry groups such as the Fibre
Channel Industry Association (FCIA), the Fibre Alliance, the Storage
Networking Industry Association (SNIA) and the University of New
Hampshire's Interoperability Lab to promote industry-wide Fibre
Channel testing. Interphase also has a formal "partners" program
designed to assure compatibility for vendor specific configurations
with its strategic business partners.
"We applaud HP's leadership and efforts in providing highly
compatible storage products to its customers," said Greg Kalush,
Interphase president and CEO. "The HP Open SAN Initiative is
complementary to the work we already do in this area, and through
participation in this program Interphase continues its on-going
commitment to interoperability and truly open solutions for
mission-critical enterprise SAN connectivity."
Interphase provides products to HP as both an OEM supplier and
authorized channel partner for communications technologies including
Fibre Channel, ATM, FDDI, Fast Ethernet, 100VG-AnyLAN and SCSI.
Interphase has also been named a "premier partner" by HP's Enterprise
Computing Business Unit.
