As I understand it cycle life has been the main stumbling block to OUM becoming a replacement for all types of memory including DRAM, SRAM, and Flash, and to an extent, also fast mass storage.
Because of its cell structure OUM can scale much smaller than all of the present memories and will provide huge leverage with the advent of future process shrinks."
