HP is indeed the backbone for much of Intel's development but there are still lot's of Suns around.

I did some work with an Intel team in early 1997 - there were at least a few SUN workstations at that time... CPQ phased the last of theirs out at about that same time, but they don't do anything like the level of silicon design that Intel does. I would imagine that the DEC designers used Alpha but don't know for sure.
