PB - Re: Presenting the Cyrix III (Joshua) vs. Celeron in Quake 3 benchmarks:"

From that article:

"Slow?
What gives? The PR for the machine we tested was 500. Needless to say, we were shocked by the Cyrix III's frame rate. At this point, we asked a representative about the machines, looking for a reason behind the slow frame rate. As it turns out, the display machines were running on beta silicon. They're basically solid enough to show people that they function, but there still have several significant issues that will be cleared up in the final silicon (which they expect in about a month). Performance will improve, but VIA won't know how much until they test the final silicon.
The Cyrix III launch was VIA's first processor launch, and you can bet that VIA won't leave out benchmarkable machines with beta silicon next time. With any kind of product launch, you have to make sure to put your best foot forward. In any case, we're very curious to see how well the final silicon performs. As we all know, the beta Athlon we tested didn't perform very well, but the final product was a screamer. "

I just unloaded all my Intel and wired the profits to Taiwan - to invest them in Cyrix Redux !!!!

Question - How many times can Cyrix DIE and still be alive?

Cyrix is the CAT of CPU companies !
