Fair enough....For a conservative, as opposed to a libertarian, the question is supposed to be "how compelling is the reason for state action in this area? Or,in instances when the rights of the majority and of the minority conflict, how compelling is the grievance of the minority, to force the majority to its will?" Do we need an overhaul of the healthcare system, and even if some action were legitimate, should it amount to nationalization? Or, in the other case, is there reason to ban the practice of offering benedictions at high school graduation ceremonies?
A conservative is likely to answer "no" to both, and a liberal to answer "yes"......
