John, interesting, but where are those 1 million high mhz coppermines going out of fab 12. Did Intel send them by Turtle Xpress???

The world is now upside down with AMD systems the fastest in 76% of stores, equal in another 9% and Intel only winning in the four stores that don't sell AMD and one other store.

Petz and thread:

My postings today are brought to you on a pc upgraded to the 550 Athlon....I can not tell you the difference in performance from my old cpu.

The performance is so smooth, I can understand why the techies refer to it as sweet. Even the boot up is smooth.

Well worth the cost....another satisfied Athlon customer!!

ALL, AMD continues to gain market share & MHz in small computer shops. In the last week,
1. Two vendors in San Diego dropped the P3 from their ad's entirely and one of the
biggest parts vendors now only sells 500E and 550E PeeWeeIII systems. (Too many
low speed parts, Intel?)
2. There are only two vendors (4 locations) selling Intel-only. ALL 20
OTHER VENDORS (28 locations) SELL AMD SYSTEMS AS FAST OR FASTER THAN INTEL.
3. For these 20 vendors, on average, the AMD systems are advertised at
84 MHz higher speed.
4. The first 850 MHz system appeared this week.
5. THe first Intel 750 MHz system appeared this week.

This survey is based on advertisements in the weekly ComputorEdge flyer --
a free publication in San Diego county. Percentages are weighted by the number
of locations of each vendor. Small ads advertising a single system are excluded,
also system configurations without pricing.
