I doubt that GDP is being calculated correctly. It is difficult to accurately calculate GDP due to the shift to a service economy. The value of the US worker has gone up tremendously since the periods you mention. The productivity gains are huge. Also, the world is a much better place than 1929 and 1987. The risks are less, so there is nothing wrong with a higher valuation than 1929 and 1987.

Compared to 2 years ago, the DOW is MUCH cheaper today.
