I have an interesting spamming story where I, unknowingly became an SI spammer. To my surprise, I ended up in SI's suspension jail.

About a year ago I had some a few hundred dollars left over after a trade. And since my experience with Zulu conditioned me not to buy OTC stocks I went searching for a 10 dollar and under Nasdaq stock.

I found Sharper Image (SHRP) whose store line I was familiar with. I only bought 75 shares and it became the most minor of all my positions. We were deep in hot and dogged days of mid-August and I thought: Well, if I hang onto it through Christmas, SHRP's ecommerce initiatives could prove fruitful. Although I did minimal research, I viewed the transaction as a nice parking place. Nothing more; nothing less.

So a couple of weeks into holding this stock I found a boring moment and actually began looking at its past press releases. I discovered they put out a PR stating they were to offer air conditioned clothing. On this day, it was the fifth or sixth day in a row where the temperatures were in excess of 100 degrees. So I thought: "Why not have some fun?"

So I copied this press release and began visiting all of SI's coffee chat rooms. In the UFO room, I'd leave a post sporting a short snippet like: Now I know why aliens look the way they do when they visit earth...check it out! And I pasted the SHRP press release. I went to the political rooms and stated something like: "Here's a perfect way for politicians to cool off!" And on and on. I visited about 20 rooms.

Next thing I know my SI posting rights get suspended for three days due to, of all things: Spamming. I was shocked. All I did was make humor. At the time, the whole nation was baked in the heat and life was very uncomfortable and I thought it was humorous to note that air conditioned clothing got invented.

I was all alone in my room with not much to do. But my innocent attempt to reach out to others via SI got foiled.

Was I spamming? I didn't think so, but apparently SI thought I was.

More to the point on the subject? I hate quick hit spams. But I appreciate hearing of suggestions from posters who've established themselves on a respective thread. On the NetZero thread where I'd been posting since it IPO'd, I recommended EDIG. A half a dozen or more NZRO investors, because of this recommendation, got to buy under five bucks before it hit 24.

Bottom line? I think it's frivolous to deny sensible, especially creative, reality.

Thanks c, nice sportsmanship like attitude.

On Jon Tara it seems the discussions are so mundane IMHO.

He seems like a classic short trap to me or he gets satisfaction from argueing about the mundane. Either case is a waste of time and energy.

Mike
