Ohmygoodness! Have I been that distracted?!
The Thomasaur was back for his first post-hospital checkup earlier this week, and he weighed in at 10 and 14 - a full pound weight gain. He measured a full 24 inches. He's already getting good at holding his head up, and that makes picking him up much less of an "action thriller bomb being defused, don't forget about the hidden mercury switch" sort of moment.
Helen is being simply wonderful toand around her baby brother. She proudly proclaims herself to be Big Helen, then she focuses those blazing thousand-watt eyes on me and says "Big Daddy!" And you just know I eat that up with a lobster fork.
This morning I found her READING to Tom. I peered around a corner so she wouldn't know she was being watched, and she had a tiny book and was turning pages and purposefully chanting some baby talk with the occasional recognizable word in there, like "doodoo" or "owies" or "happy". It was precious.
Then she placed her absolute favorite blankie on him. The one from which she cannot be separated by conventional means. Helen astounds me with her emotional intelligence and generous spirit.
