Article from Dow Jones about Lucent tracking stock.

"This year, sales of Lucent's optical components and broadband network systems are expected to account for just 15% to 18% of total sales, says Amro's Mr. Leon. At Nortel, the same products will make up 40% of total sales this year."

Ken, Niche? End to end does not sound like a niche to me. I have also heard that NT does not have competitive OSS network management capabilities right now. Since that was part of a discussion earlier in the week, I though that I would mention this since LU certainly has an advantage there. (NT is trying to lure some key people there from LU, but of course there is not a snowball's chance in hell of them getting them...) BT and Deutche Telecom are also building large optical networks with LU product. That and the opinions expressed in the articles printed this week certainly indicate that they not only compete, but have advantages. Now if LU were to pony up 15-20 billion for Corvis....

As I have said, there is plenty of business for everyone. NT and LU will both do well.
