Princeton economist Burton Malkiel says if you're not willing to do your own very detailed homework, or follow a guru who can explain all of his detailed homework, you're better off buying indices regularly, as opposed to reading charts or following tips.

You're only beating the indices because 1) you do your own homework and 2) you have nobody to answer to. Maybe you're due to reread Random Walk.
