Tradelite: I think you misunderstood my post. I do not own any mutual funds and have no intention of trading in-and-out of the market with my stocks. I agree entirely with your post. Timing the market is futile and what you said about missing the 5 to 10 big "up" days on the NASDAQ can seriously hurt one's performance for the year. My point was that many investors holding index funds may start doing what investors holding "value" funds have been doing all year -- namely, bailing out and buying tech and biotech stocks to get their 20-30% returns. If that does indeed happen, it will put further pressure on the Dow and S&P 500 stocks.
