The spin and hype surrounding Qualcomm's technology never ceases to amaze me.

The 2.4 megabits is per channel, not per user. I believe there are 20+ users on average of a CDMAOne or CDMA/HDR channel. And even Qualcomm recognizes that 2.4 megabits is the maximum, not the average, throughput of the channel. And then there's the fact that data speed decreases with distance from the cellsite. Of course the bandwidth can be allocated dynamically, so if only one person is using the channel that person can get the entire channel. So, basically, if you really want 2.4 megabits you need to get up at 3 A.M., haul yourself down to the cellsite, climb the tower and park yourself right next to the antenna. If you want to know the real speed take into account the number of simultaneously users and the average distance from the cellsite and work the numbers for yourself.
