My life has changed because of dog adoption too. We may have to move. I just took in a dog that I saw get hit on one of the cross-town expressways here. I took him to a vet that I knew would give me a break on price, and amazingly, there was nothing broken. He had collapsed lungs, was bleeding internally, and we suspect there is some nerve damage near the bottom of the spine, but considering he was hit on an expressway, he came through remarkably well. He still walks with an odd gait, but he can move fast when he wants to. It's been almost 3 weeks now, and it looks like he's going to stay with us. That makes 4 dogs, all of them refugees.

We are presently renting and our landlord thinks we have 2 dogs. Mere dog walking has become an exercise in furtive behaviour, as 2 of our neighbors stay in touch with our landlord. Rescuing these guys complicates things, but they don't leave you a choice, do they?
