Glenn-

Consider Amazon's book business, and ask the following question: Will the fact that the books are sold on the Net change the number of hours people devote to reading? Doubtful. Next question: Can Amazon sell books at significantly lower prices than, say, Barnes and Noble, and stay commercially viable? It does not seem so.

The first has already happened, I believe. For me, it's more than doubled the time I spend reading, for whatever reason. The answer to the second is probably not, but it doesn't matter. Amazon doesn't have to be cheaper right now, or ever.
