I bet Microsoft is enjoying the opportunity to work on both AMD & Intel to gain the most favorable arrangements. It will be interesting to see the details unfold and see how this could shape a new area for the PC continuum. If it is too much of a "box" then will "box-makers" be more/less bold in considering their own MS alternatives? As a supplier enters the same/similar market with their customers...

MS share of PC prices has remained (relatively) constant while the other components have declined. While the x-box could represent good additional income, it would seem to have a potentially risky margin: awful if over-subsidized or market too limited/fragmented or great if the they can supplement the existing revenue streams.

Will people want to network their x-boxes?

Sorry, getting way beyond the processor realm. Back on track, while the margins on supplying the processor for the x-box could be relatively modest, it would represent a significant volume (like flash) as well as potential for enhanced OS/program optimization (if AThlon).
