Richard, I never said it was not narrow, it is, as Ms Morgenson's article points out today:

Just because it is narrow does not mean it is true, though; the Dow is only 30 stocks after all. The bottom line is still that the market is more bifrucated than ever and more complex than ever and cnbc's general reporting does not reflect this. Do we need the Rusell 2000 and the Wiltshire 5000 in addition to the DJ and Nasdaq in their bubble for instance? Maybe so.

GE's chart is worrisome, BTW.
