Now, c.horn, I have a 528 sport wagon because it is so easy to haul all the animals to the vet and back. Why do I like BMWs?
1) Great driving
2) Get you out of trouble, quickly:
a. friend was hit by a crazy driver entering an interstate. Driving a 525 then. Car ruined. She walked away unhurt.
b. Driving a 735 (i was the passenger), hit truck debris, blew out both left tires, car did not swerve or do anything. I was driving a 740, flat tire, did not even know it.
3) Free maintenance for 3 years
4) extremely well built.

I wonder when they will realize they left dead links all over the place on SI?

They forgot to migrate all the old URLs of the Classic SI into the new!

Oh I dunno - my Bimm was more than 35 k but less than 40 k. It's an M3 with the manual, and it is simply marvelous. Caddy makes NOTHING that can touch it in terms of pure fun factor (you have to go downbrand to the Vette before you have a worthy opponent, and hey, what's this, only two seats? Even the big Camaro does not match my Bimm.), and as a HUGE added bonus, I can own a car without an accursed sunroof.
I look at the Caddies and Lincolns at each year's car show. And they're nice enough (I acknowledge huge improvements in fit and finish over the last, oh, 14 years) but decidedly not cars for people who really like to Drive. The new Lincoln LS is pretty darn nice I will concede, but it lacks rear headroom, or even the option of a stickshift. As do ALLLLL the American cars (headroom that is, esp. in back!), not counting utes which aren't cars anyway.

<edit> I own a Bimm, and even so I MUCH prefer the Real SI to this ... vampire. There's no contradiction, cuz a manual M3 is all about the act of driving, not nearly so much about the "image" of owning a Bimm or being king of the road or some such competitive nonsense.
