Jeffry White: I'm not talking about a software program. I'm talking about a simple task of keeping track of price and volume in the major indices and learning the signals that come from that effort. They're easy to spot, and leave little if anything to interpretation. I know you weren't, but easy for one is not always easy for another....I've looked at your charts, and they are nice and I thank you for posting them. But, where is it that I can find a reliable indicator on those charts pointing to the kind of distribution signals needed to avoid risk attendant to an intermediate term market change of direction? As you said in your first sentence...I'm not talking about a software program. I'm talking about a simple task of keeping track of price and volume ", it is about observation for me not an indicator. I did write notes on my charts and draw lines to draw attention to the volume increase. I don't know what else to do to draw attention to it. I posted the COMP chart on this thread several times starting in Nov 99 once the pattern was clear.my signals saw no significant distribution signals in October '99, but presaged that as a bottom, and confirmed the bottom on accumulation price and volume signals from the same method. Now I am a little confused. Did you not say in your first sentence, I'm not talking about a software program. I'm talking about a simple task of keeping track of price and volume in the major indices and learning the signals that come from that effort. I don't know what indicator signals you use, I use observation for the most part. Scans can be used to draw attention to a chart for observation, but observation is my primary analytical tool identifying accum/distrib...<g> Look at my COMP chart on my web site and notice where the volume begins to increase dramatically above the average in late Oct 99. I pointed that out several times with notes on the chart itself and in post accompanying the link to the chart. I don't have an auto indicator for this...I have to note it on the chart, calling attention to it that way! Regards, LG PS: I don't post charts revealing everything I use publicly! I am a little selfish that way...<g>
