Applying logic to this potential transaction is a meaningless exercise. The only thing that matters is the emotional reaction of the herd. So, wait and see what happens. My offhand observation is what makes the flea think they can run a successful high end auction house better than current management? Is flea going to bring some synergy and better prices/profits to the company by listing a 20mm painting on the internut? And since this is an old economy biz which will provide the vast bulk of earnings, why pay inut PEs or rather PRevenues? Take a gander at what happened to AOL/Time Warner.
