V,
I'm trying to understand the cc. If you are long and the stock has significant upside why would you want the possibility of that issue being called away?

Okay, I guess I got that one right,<gg> now, when I write a call I'm taking the bet from someone that at a predetermined date that stock will sell for a predetermined price and the only way I have to sell those shares is if on that date, the shares are selling, or close at that price?
And unless that happens I keep the bet $$$?
I understand that from the time the bet is made and the date the bet is to be settled much fluctuation happens in between. I'm just trying to grasp the concept.

Rumor on the VRTL($23) Yahoo thread that QCOM is buying them on 2/28 for $47.50/sh. VRTL is the only company that has a software product small enough to access the internet with hand held wireless devices and palm pilots etc. It is called e*ORB. Object Related Broker is a set of standards that are universally accepted, but previously unobtainable in the handset arena. Anyone heard anything on this?

Voltaire,

I'm most interested in your earlier statement regarding margin calls being no threat when selling calls, though you espouse using margin to build positions against which to sell calls. Please explain.

This has been a great education; many thanks.
