Officials: Mount Hekla Erupts in Iceland; No Danger

REYKJAVIK, Iceland (Reuters) - Columns of ash up to four miles high spewed from Iceland's most active volcano, Mount Hekla, Sunday in its first eruption for almost 10 years.

A spokeswoman from Iceland's Meteorological Office, Unnur Olofsdottir, said the volcano in the southwest of the country posed no danger as it was situated in an uninhabited area about 75 miles east of Reykjavik.

Hekla started to erupt at about 12:15 p.m. EST Saturday....
