i think what you are refering to is the fact that traditionally the lockup period for ipos is 180 days, ie additional shares owned by the company or insiders may be released into the market. in the case of AVNX, this period of time was reduced to 90 days, furthermore, msdw essentially guaranteed a price of 72 dollars per share. many have interpreted this as favorably as msdw obviously has enough faith in this company to release additional shares (flood the market)earlier than usual, AVNX is just beginning to roll, and i love when the shorters hit the thread.

jack, this type of offering is no longer "bizarre"...has happened 5 times or so in last 6 months according to recent WSJ article...this is mainly driven by the venture co's who want to cash in early and move on to their next endeavor(im sure the insiders also enjoy becoming instant million/billionares too<gg>)...goodluck.
