Eagle Wireless to Showcase Webflyer At Embedded Systems Conference
LEAGUE CITY, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 2000--Eagle Wireless International, Inc. (AMEX: EAG - news) today announced it will demonstrate its Webflyer convergence set-top box in the AMD section of the Microsoft booth, location #303 at the Spring Embedded Systems Conference. The show will be held February 28 - March 2 at McCormick Place South in Chicago, IL.
The Webflyer is the high performance multimedia unit in Eagle's line of convergence set-top boxes running a Microsoft Windows-based operating system and powered by a 350MHz AMD-K6(TM)-2E embedded processor, marketed by Eagle subsidiary BroadbandMagic.com. The Webflyer is designed to support the convergence of broadband Internet access, home networking, DVD movies, wireless connectivity, and powerful computing to the living room. The Webflyer will also be demonstrated at CeBit in Hanover, Germany (February 24 - March 1), and the CTIA Wireless 2000 show in New Orleans (February 28 - March 1). Through video networking, attendees of each show can view the Eagle displays at the other shows.
``AMD embedded x86 processors are well suited for the fast emerging market of convergence appliances,' said Tim Wright, Director of Marketing for the Embedded Products Division at AMD. ``The Webflyer builds on the characteristics of the traditional set-top box and through the performance of the AMD-K6-2E processor delivers additional multimedia capabilities.'
Dr. H. Dean Cubley, president and chief executive officer of Eagle Wireless International, Inc., said, ``The combination of the Microsoft operating system with the high performance of the AMD-K6-2E processor makes this version of our convergence set-top box a very high performance multimedia system. When you combine this power with the other onboard hardware features provided by our other technology partners, the Webflyer becomes a product that is the perfect fit for the home entertainment center. Equally as important, the Webflyer was designed to be compatible with most new technology as it becomes available and is intended to futureproof the average home application for years to come. Eagle is extremely pleased to be demonstrating this new technology.'
