Having said that, the reason that multimedia functions are not included on the Palm IIIc is not related to the 16 bit OS then???

The issue is not so much the OS, but the hardware. Processing multimedia applications requires more circuits, which mean less battery life. CE went for that route a couple of years ago, only to fail. Maybe we are getting to the point where color PDAs can offer acceptable battery life. The Palm IIIc demonstrates a technological advancement in the Palm OS. What to do with the color API will be up to the imaginations of the Palm makers, add-on module manufactures, and application developers.

(it maybe a good idea to add a DSP core in there.)

Why do they continue to shun expandable memory options for their devices?

Are you talking about DRAM or non-volatile memory?
