Not necessarily. The only real downside of the current situation is that AMD would be in a tough spot to retain/gain market share at the low-end for Q2 - especially If AMD can't get the motherboards for socketed Spitfire lined up fast.

But, even in that kind of situation one has to wonder if AMD will giveup the market share drive. If the socketed infrastructure is a problem, AMD could ramp Dresden hard and flood the market with Slotted-Thunderbirds and kill the low-end Athlon pricing to not lose sockets in the segmentation hole. That will reduce AMD's margins for Q2 but it could put Intel in a world of hurt.

One would hope that the above scenario does not pan out but who knows...
