Neo, report from the trenches....

Went to hear George W. Bush at Lakewood high school in Tacoma tonight. It was very interesting! Even got to shake his hand and talk with him briefly as it was breaking up. I was very impressed!

The get together started out with the local Lakewood YMCA chorus singing God Bless America and a couple of other songs. The we heard a wonderful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, sung by one of the high school students. Next, Kirby Wilby a local DJ spoke for about 30 minutes. Then Jennifer Dunn a local congressperson spoke very briefly and introduced George W.

Everyone cheered! And the governor gave his prepared speech for about 30 minutes. It was good, but not great. He seemed a bit nervous at first, but got into it as the speech progressed. The crowd cheered loudly as he set forth his agenda with regard to taxes, school reform, social security and a few other items. My impression at this point was sort of mixed. He seemed to be giving one of those typical stump speeches. Not bad, but not really great either.

Then the questioning session began. This went on for about an hour, as the audience asked all kinds of terrific questions. From School vouchers, to tort reform, to Health Care, Global Warming, Picking his cabinet, Social Security, Taxes and on and on. Bush was absolutely terrific during the questioning session! He really has an excellent grasp of the major issues. And articulated his positions directly, with an upbeat vision of America! It was a side of George W. I had not seen in the press as of yet. He was quick witted. Funny, genuine, thoughtful and well versed in the complexities of the issues.

Wish you were there with us. You would have had a blast! :-)

Michael

Neo, is it common practice for a Synagogues to force the women to go outside when an important event is taking place?
