PCCW <1186.HK> says signs deal with C&W

HONG KONG, Feb 29 (Reuters) - Pacific Century CyberWorks Ltd (PCCW) said on Tuesday it had signed a deal to acquire control of Cable & Wireless HKT <0008.HK> from Britain's Cable & Wireless Plc. PCCW chairman Richard Li told reporters that PCCW had not considered any layoffs at C&W HKT at the moment.

Thanks for all your imput, Jay. Hopefully, I won't bug you as much -- my neighbor just returned from a 3-year stint in Hong Kong with IBM and I intend to take advantage of his knowledge of Hong Kong businesses, etc.

Jay, What about 715, Harbour Ring, aka ICG Asia? It started trading Friday in Hong Kong and by noon was up 500% (from about HK$1.20 to $7.40. Is this mostly on the ICGE factor?
