Retire, I use cable modem as primary [via ATHM], 56k dial-up modem as secondary [via AOL] and this week will be buying a wireless for tertiary back-up [via ?]. . .the problem is with ATHM going down so often. . perhaps 6 to 10 times each week. . I must stop everything and dial AOL. . .and with the number of browsers I run, the speed is not even close. . . difference is 1 to 4 Meg with cable modem vs. 45k or so with 56K modem . . .many wireless services are even faster. . .but I am not interested in going T1, when there are so many fiber-optics lines running by my house. . .so I am waiting on phone company to offer direct connected fiber. . . meanwhile, looking for the best wireless service I can find for either a handheld or a notebook. . . .but info is scarce on the service in my area.
