What this is of course is the lithography market that AMAT is not yet in. While a huge market, AMAT would have had to go against too many powerful ingrained competitors in the past: Nikon, Canon, ASML.Now however, with the technical node mentioned in the article, the race is indeed on to see which new technology will win out. Powerful competition: in one corner IBM and Nikon, in the other AMAT, ASML, and Lucent ( Bell Labs).
