NOKIA ARTUSE TKS Messaging Platform For WAP Enabled Mobile
Internet Access

Business and Technology Editors

NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2000--

Technology enables GSM, TDMA and now CDMA wireless operators

to implement value added messaging services on top of

their existing voice telephony

Nokia today announced the extension of its ground-breaking Nokia Artuse
Messaging Platform to support CDMA networks. The Nokia Artuse
Messaging Platform is a comprehensive WAP 1.1 compliant solution that
enables operators to create interactive, value-added WAP and messaging
applications for mobile users.

'Nokia offers operators what few others in the industry can: not only a
WAP-enabled terminal, but also a complete WAP solution that includes
WAP gateways, customized portals, tools for WAP-based content creation,
security components, and systems integration services,' says Steve Ballard,
Director of Messaging & Service Platforms, Nokia Networks. 'By
expanding our Nokia Artuse Messaging Platform to include CDMA
networks, we now offer CDMA operators an open architecture platform for
creating a new revenue stream from value-added messaging services,' he
adds. Internet from any CDMA, TDMA or GSM WAP handset

Using WAP, the Nokia Artuse Messaging Platform enables the mobile
phone user on the move to easily access Internet information, such as
headline news, sports results, stock quotes, and on-line travel and banking
services. By supporting HTTPS, a secure protocol for fetching Internet
content, The Nokia Artuse Messaging Platform enables secure access to
corporate intranets and other sensitive databases. Mobile operators can offer
attractive services and the billing interface enables the collection of a variety
of information for flexible billing schemes, one of which is service-based
billing.

The Nokia Artuse Messaging Platform functions as a WAP gateway where
users are able to access services from WAP-enabled devices through a
variety of bearers. By simply clicking on a hyperlink, users get the
information they are looking for. Operators, in turn, can easily provision the
services by providing a homepage with hyperlinks to the services they are
offering. About Nokia
