Peter, two weeks before the Dow topped, the AAII poll showed 75% bulls, a record high. over the lifetime of the bull market the poll always displayed a certain amount of skepticism...the early January figures were quite a departure from that. now that the non-tech indices have declined a lot, the polls show less bullishness...but the measures that look at actual positioning show even more bullishness than before. to be bullish about the market has finally become a deeply ingrained habit...
