Healtheon/WebMD falls 10 percent after week of deals
NEW YORK, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Shares of Healtheon/WebMD Corp (NasdaqNM:HLTH - news) fell 10 percent on Friday after a busy week of dealmaking for the Internet healthcare company, but analysts attributed the dive to broader market losses.

``The market is getting crushed today, it's a tough day right now for the market and the technology sector in particular,' said Christopher Russ, an analyst at First Union Securities. ``But I don't think it's company-specific.'

Healtheon's stock closed down 6-1/2 at 60-7/8, with about 3.4 million shares changing hands, below the average daily volume of about 6 million shares.

The technology-laden Nasdaq composite index dropped 137.18 points, or 3.02 percent, and the Dow slid 295.05 points, or 2.81 percent.

Healtheon has been announcing deals at a dizzying speed. This week alone, the company bought its main rival CareInsite Inc. (NasdaqNM:CARI - news), its parent Medical Manager Corp. (NasdaqNM:MMGR - news), health Web site OnHealth Network Co. (NasdaqNM:ONHN - news), and signed an advertising sponsorship agreement with Internet direct marketer LifeMinders.com Inc. (NasdaqNM:LFMN - news)

``I think there's a little confusion on the fact that they brought so many pieces together and maybe people are trying to get their arms around it,' said Jeffrey Peters, an analyst with Dain Raucher Wessels. ``But in general we're still extremely positive on the story.'

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission also said it is reviewing some healthcare Web sites following allegations they shared consumers' personal health information without proper warning.

``Fortunately WebMD wasn't named in that,' Peters said. ``Things like that might have hurt some of the content companies, like the drkoops [drkoop.com Inc.] of the world, but I don't think there's anything going on today other than some rotation out of the names.'
