Add me to the list too! I was houseboating with a few friends (well outside of cellular range) not too long ago. We woke up one morning to find the main battery dead, so we were unable to start the engine. I whipped out my G* phone, and called the dock. They told us how to crawl into the bilge and rewire the generator to a spare battery. The boat fired right up, and we puttered back to the dock. Of course, the phone wouldn't work inside of the hull of the boat; one guy had to stand on the deck with the phone and yell instructions into the bilge to the guy with the wrench. But it without the phone, it would have been an awful long walk back along the shore ( > 5 miles). True story. I'm a believer, -Dr.E.
