Well, McCain definitely has gravitas. This thing now has evolved into a big-league game of hardball. The stakes are high. I don't think McCain can be fairly accused of throwing the first pitch.

I don't know, it seems to me the political crisis was W trying to outflank McCain on the right in S.C. He can dig himself out of that any way he wants, but somehow, I don't think the holy roller contingent is going to be much help there.

Or you can blame it all on McCain, for having the temerity to not roll over and play dead for the anointed one, after being treated so courteously by W's handlers. It's all entertainment to me.
