An inside day does just that, it trades inside the confines of the previous day thus the highs are lower than the other day's highs and the lows are higher than the other day's lows. It is usually a pause before a continuation of the previous trend which in this case would be down for the DOW, SPX OEX etc.

Hi Dennis,

I think that Lee has already just described an inside day for you, but I disagree with Lee about the significance of one... I've generally observed that an inside day suggests hesitation in the market and marks a possible turning point... an inside day here in the DOW would mean a turning up towards higher prices.....
