Those two books are the only ones I have read on selling and I try and read at least parts of them periodically. Selling has always been a painful experience for me, I always hope it will go a little higher, or when falling I keep telling myself it will turn around any minute. For the last year I have adopted a stance similiar to Dave's. As soon as I buy a stock I set a Profit stop, and a Loss stop. With the profit stop I will usually sell as soon as it's hit but sometimes I will hold and watch until I feel sure it's not going up any more or I can't stand the pressure anymore. But with the Loss stop, when its hit I sell and don't look back. I know that there are times when I got out too early both on the profit side and the loss side, but my bottom line results have improved dramatically since I started selling at the pre-set stops.
