totaltele.com [registration is free]Novell Seeks Services Partners By Emily Bourne, Total Telecom 28 February 2000 Networking software company Novell on Monday launched a program for partnerships on products and services development. The company is targeting software and hardware vendors, ISPs, and ASPs, and has already signed up IBM, Compaq, Lucent, Dell and Oracle. "Our focus is on delivering these services across all nets and all platforms," Johan Rosius, Novell's director of channel marketing for EMEA, told Total Telecom. The scheme unifies Novell's existing partnership programs, giving companies a single point of contact with the firm. In addition, Rosius said, the company is trying to evolve from a network manager to a services provider. "We need partnerships that fill in the holes." Novell will form close relationships with its partners, based on joint commitments, which will include a financial element. There are three stages of commitment, building up to an alliance with "a strong relationship between the senior management of our company and the senior management of the partners company." Rosius said IBM, Cisco and Lucent have committed to partnerships on this level. The partnership program was launched in the U.S. last month, and is now being introduced in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Rosius said Novell can offer customers, technicians and software to its partners.
