Mardy - Good points - sweeping generalizations always get me in trouble!
"Fixed wireless will survive only where it can compete against FTTH" and in the case of (possibly nomadic) tribal cultures, and remote villages, fixed wireless will survive. But as an investment? You're absolutely right about the ability of fixed wireless to provide to that market, Mardy - but would you put your money there?
My emphasis was on where the sweet spot would be for large numbers, and therefore, for good investment returns.
On the home front, I always thought of Bluetooth as a sort of necessary evil, a precursor to HAVi-like, or Jini-like networking,(future-proofed with 1394 type bandwidth). I thought of it as mobile, and portable sort of a high-bandwidth redistribution point that can take input from any node, and rebroadcast it within the home. When you move, it goes with you - no rewiring necessary. And again, you're right - that's a real sweet spot, one that won't disappear.
