engineer, perhaps CSteadman is correct, perhaps not, that MOT's announcement of 1X Plus involves fiber-less optical transmission. There was no reference to such in MOT's release, which did include the statement that "1X Plus proposal builds on many improvements to the existing cdma2000 1X air interface, with the intent of maximizing data throughput." see, e.g.,

and slacker's post of the release itself. I am guessing that MOT is claiming something closer to CDMA home. Interested in your take on how data throughput could be managed on the scale that MOT is claiming, and how Q's engineers could possibly have been upstaged. I may be wrong (and it would cost us dearly), but this just does not add up to what MOT says it is.
